Carbondale, CO

At 8:04 p.m. on Wednesday, January 21, 2015, Carbondale & Rural Fire Protection District was paged to 171 Highway 133 #B-12, Mountain Valley Mobile Home Park, for a report of a structure fire.  Upon arrival, the firefighters found flames and heavy smoke coming from the mobile home.

Firefighters were able to stop the spread of the fire before any other mobile homes were involved. The residents of the mobile home were not at the residence when the fire was reported. There were no firefighter or civilian injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.  No loss amount has been determined at this time, though the home is thought to be a total loss.

Carbondale & Rural Fire Protection District responded with four fire trucks and 19 personnel.

Carbondale Deputy Chief Rob Goodwin said, “When our first engine crews arrived, there was heavy smoke coming from the structure and quite a bit of flame coming from the rear of the building at the roof. Our firefighters attacked the fire from both the front door and the rear of the house. The fire was knocked down and controlled within about 15 minutes from the time of arrival of the first engine crew. The volunteer and paid firefighters did an outstanding job of quickly attacking and controlling this fire. Their great work kept this fire from becoming a much larger problem as there were numerous other residences nearby that were threatened.”

The resident of the mobile home was displaced and is staying with a friend.

The Carbondale Police Department also responded to this incident.
